• When we do open for visitors, please be advised that we do have some additional safety precautions that we, along with our cleaning crew, are putting into place for our 2020 rental season due to Covid-19.

    • Our cleaning crew will be following the cleaning protocol that the CDC has put in place to ensure the house is fully sanitized between renters. All surfaces will be wiped down with an alcohol-based cleaner.  All linens (quilts, pillows, mattress pads) will be sprayed with an alcohol-based cleaner. Due to the additional cleaning measures, the cleaning crew may take longer than usual when turning over the house on check-in day. Please plan for check-in between 4pm – 6pm on Saturdays. We appreciate your cooperation with this as sanitizing the house is extremely important for your health and safety and we will not rush our cleaners.

    • Typically, we provide a lot of little extras at the house to help make your stay more enjoyable. Unfortunately, due to new cleaning protocols that have been put out by the CDC we will be unable to offer some of those amenities. This includes, extra blankets, extra pillows, puzzles, books, games, baby equipment, OBX brochures/coupons, kitchen spices and oils. We apologize for the inconvenience. Due to this, please plan to bring your own extras this year. Rest assured that summer of 2021 we will return to offering our full list of amenities!

    • We also need our renters to play a part in ensuring Shades of Summer is safe and ready for the guests who will be checking in after you leave. Please do not leave any “extra” items at the house that you may have purchased but don’t want to pack to take home with you. Usually we encourage guests to leave items instead of throwing them away, but this year we are asking you to kindly refrain from doing so.

    • If anyone in your party develops symptoms or is diagnosed with Covid-19 while staying at Shades of Summer, we must be notified immediately. You will be required to check-out on Friday at 10am, 24 hours prior to your normal check-out time as outlined by the CDC, as we would be unable to have anyone in the house in that 24-hour period. Non-compliance with the Friday check-out will result in an additional charge of $500.
